Founder and CEO of Forever Resorts
Letter from Rex Maughn, Founder and CEO of Forever Resorts:
Our resort company officially started business in 1981. However, in many ways, it really started when I was a young boy growing up in a small ranching community in Southeastern Idaho.
Out on the ranch, the skies were endless and the days were long. I had plenty of time to just be still and observe the magnificence of nature. I grew up loving the outdoors and I came to respect the lessons that nature provides. I also grew to appreciate how spending time and vacationing in remarkable natural environments reenergizes one’s life. Since I was a youngster, I have wanted to share those outstanding locations and vacation experiences.
In 1981, I had a business opportunity to do just that as we started Forever Resorts. We started with a vision of acquiring and operating resorts in natural environments where the human spirit truly soars. We dedicated the company to fulfilling the need that almost every one of us has for exploring nature while rediscovering ourselves.
Today, I am very proud of the more than 70 resort and recreational properties, in the United States, Europe and Africa, that operate under the Forever Resorts flag. I am proud of our Forever Family and of the special care that they extend to our guests. I am especially proud of our dedication, at every single property, to protecting the very special places in which we operate.
Our growth at Forever Resorts is just beginning. Every day, we rededicate ourselves to soaring higher and faster than ever before. We are excited over the prospects of growing our Forever Family of remarkable team members, our portfolio of special properties, and our growing positive impacts on preserving delicate natural environments.
Whether you are visiting our website as a prospective member of the Forever Family, as a potential lodging guest, or as a prospective houseboater, I want to welcome you to Forever Resorts.
Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Forever Resorts family of companies owns and operates more than 65 unique vacation and entertainment properties located in or near national parks, recreation areas and national forests across the United States. Forever Resorts even extends internationally to more than 20 properties in Europe and Africa.
“Forever Resorts is committed to providing you with an immersive getaway so that you can experience all the adventure that nature has to offer.”
Forever resorts is dedicated to property preservation and customer care as well as exceptional management and marketing capabilities in the lodging, marina, food service and retail business. We are also the leading company for providing luxury houseboats rentals at our Forever marinas.
Providing beautiful destinations for outdoor adventures has always been the focal point of Forever Resorts. Our story began as a National Park Service (NPS) concessioner when Rex Maughan, president and founder of Forever Resorts, made the first acquisition in 1981 of Callville Bay Resort & Marina on Lake Mead and Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina on Lake Mohave, Nevada. Soon after, operations expanded to lodging properties including the Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Isle Royale and many others in both State and National Parks. As our organization has grown, popular tourist destinations have come to include additional marinas such as Don Pedro Lake, Lake Oroville and Trinity Lake in California.
At Forever Resorts, we also hold the protection and preservation of the natural environments in which we operate as a top priority. This commitment includes initiatives such as the construction of the world’s first ever LEED Gold Certified floating building at Cottonwood Cove Marina, recycling and waste management programs at many of our lodging properties and marinas as well as consistent Environmental Achievement awards through the National Park Service – because being able to provide pristine destinations for the memories of a lifetime for generations to come.
