Duties & Functions of the Maintenance/Engineering Supervisor
The Maintenance/Engineering Supervisor must develop an intimate knowledge of the Hotel’s physical structure and its internal components and keep them functioning. Assist in managing the Engineering staff will include training, setting quality standards, and cost effectiveness. Highlights of the Maintenance/ Engineering duties and functions include:
Assisting in managing the Engineering personnel in day to day operations of the department. Assisting to Schedule Perfect Room Program (PRP) completion ensuring all guest rooms in the Hotel receive PRP review at least annually. Adhere to the established Quality Assurance Program schedule that all preventive maintenance is completed in each designated area. Work with other departments to coordinate the scheduling and completion of larger projects. Ensure key control, security and safety of department issued radios, and overall security of the Engineering areas such as mechanical and electrical rooms, roof top, and boiler/pump rooms.
Magnolia’s Desired Qualification for the Maintenance/ Engineering Supervisor
The comprehensive skill set of a Maintenance/Engineering Supervisor has to be broad and encompassing. Here are some desired qualifications we expect the Maintenance/ Engineering Supervisor to possess.
Chief Engineer, Assistant or supervisory experience in hotel/resort maintenance, construction maintenance or maintenance engineering type operation. Knowledge of the main crafts trades including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, boiler technician and refrigeration/HVAC. Knowledge in assisting with scheduling staff for seven day a week operation. Experience in parts ordering and parts inventory control. Project scheduling and project management experience. Ability to read, comprehend and troubleshoot electrical and plumbing schematics. Be familiar with National Uniform Building Codes, OSHA regulations and local regulations regarding elevator licensing/maintenance, and fire alarm/suppression systems. Must posses the physical ability and agility to ascend/descend ladders and scaffolding, enter confined spaces, and tour construction areas.
