Donation Drive

A Goodwill Donation Drive is an efficient way to help you raise money for your school, church, or organization while helping the environment and supporting our mission at the same time. Setting up a drive is easy! Read more about our different donation drives below.

Types of Goodwill Donation Drives

In-Store Donation Drive

When you host an in-store donation drive and drop off your unneeded clothing, shoes, housewares, and other items, you will earn 15¢ per pound of donations. Not only do you have the chance to earn more, the retail store hosts the donation drive for you, making it quick, easy, efficient, and a win-win for everyone! All in-store donation drives are scheduled on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; however, availability is limited. To book your event, simply fill out the form on this page. You will need to fill out the Donation Drive Kit, and a Donation Drive Coordinator will assign a nearby Goodwill Retail Store Donation Center to host your event.

If it’s your group’s first time hosting a drive, you must first host an in-store donation drive. Likewise, an on-site donation drive is unavailable until your group collects a minimum of 2,500 pounds at an in-store donation drive. See On-Site Donation Drive for more details.

Event Registration

Donors can support your group by RSVPing to drop off locations at the designated Goodwill location. Upon RSVPing, the donor will receive an electronic voucher to show the donation attendant (DA). All donors must provide a voucher (printed or electronic) to the DA in order for the donated items to be accepted.

Bonuses

In addition to hosting a donation drive, your group has the opportunity to earn a monetary bonus! The more you collect, the more you earn:

  • In-store drive with furniture: 10¢ per pound
    • No bonus
  • In-store drive without furniture: 15¢ per pound
    • Collect at least 2,500 pounds to earn an extra $50
    • Collect at least 3,500 pounds to earn an extra $100
    • Collect at least 5,000 pounds to earn an extra $150

Tips for a Successful Donation Drive

  • Start collecting items before the event. Pre-collection is KEY.
  • Pass out flyers to everyone you know and distribute them at homes and businesses throughout the community.
  • Post event details on your organization’s website and social media.
  • Organize a pickup for items from those who cannot bring them to your drive.

*Donated items must be in good, clean, sellable condition. We do not repair, refinish, or reupholster.


On-Site Donation Drive

When you host an on-site donation drive and collect unneeded clothing, shoes, housewares, and more, you will earn 10¢ per pound of donations for your group or non-profit organization. It’s that easy! No need to sell anything, just clean out your closets. Donation drives are held on a Saturday or Sunday at your location for a duration of two hours. By hosting a weekend drive, you may be able to collect more items—including furniture—and you can also involve the surrounding community.

Bonuses

In addition to hosting a donation drive, your group has the opportunity to earn a monetary bonus! The more you collect, the more you earn:

  • Rummage pickups
    • No bonus
  • On-site drive with truck at location for 2 hours
    • Collect at least 5,000 pounds to earn an extra $150
    • Collect at least 10,000 pounds to earn an extra $250
    • Collect at least 15,000 pounds to earn an extra $500

We will supply you with everything you’ll need to host a successful drive: A Goodwill donation truck, two Goodwill donation attendants, flyers, and donation tax receipts.


Home Pickup

Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona provides home pickup service for eligible items. Due to the high volume of requests for home pickup, you may need to schedule your request at least one week in advance.

If you’d like to drop off your donations at a local store, click here for a list of locations.

You may schedule a residential pickup (house or apartment) or a non-residential pickup (business, church, school). Before you schedule a pickup, please review the information below.

  • Ensure all items are in a good to gently used condition
  • Ensure an accurate count of items are shared.
  • All items must be on ground-level; drivers cannot go up or down stairs or elevators.
  • All items must be able to be moved safely by two people.
  • We cannot pick up any type of mattress or box spring (including, but not limited to: futons, sleeper sofas, and anything that contains a mattress or box spring).
  • We cannot pick up trash or hazardous materials (including, but not limited to: cleaning supplies, paint, pool chemicals, etc.).

Your Goodwill is Working

Your goodwill supports our career services, which are available at no cost to anyone looking for a job or education. Through our career services, job seekers can develop their job skills, work closely with an advisor, and meet directly with hiring employers. We serve as a conduit for social change and provide resources to help the unemployed and underemployed. Your donations really do help others find meaningful employment. Keep up the good work!
